Coach Erin's "Getting Fit" Challenge

I have a lot of Beachbody colleagues that are doing getting fit challenges, so I decided to start my own. I've been wanting to run a contest like this for awhile, but hadn't put a lot of thought into it. I will be posting this Note on my fitness page and blog, as well as posting an event page on Facebook. The contest will run every ten weeks, with the first one starting the day after Labor Day, September 7th and running through Monday, November 15th. Here's how it works...

On Tuesday, September 8th all contestants will post a "before" picture along with their weight and measurements. You can use any combination of workout or diet to achieve the best results you possibly can in ten weeks. When the ten weeks are up (on Monday, November 15th) all contestants will post an "after" picture along with their weight and measurements again. I will be picking the winner based on the percentage of weight and inches lost. There will also be voting done by fellow contestants to determine "group favorite" based on the before and after picture alone. Here are the prizes you can win!

Weight and Inches lost:
1st Place: a free workout DVD and P90X shirt
2nd Place: a free Shakeology shirt and three days worth of Shakeology
3rd Place: a free P90X water bottle

Group Favorite:
a free workout DVD and three days of Shakeology

I will run this contest every ten weeks, so let's have some fun with it! Invite everyone you know, and let's help motivate each other to be fit and stay healthy.

I kind of lost track of how many days I've been tracking, so I figured I would just put the date in the title...easier for me! I must say that a lot has been going on this week. I have been working late every night at work, working out hard core, and spending a lot of time with my son. I have not been putting as much time into my Facebook networking, but took about two hours on Tuesday to catch up with everyone, and make sure that y'all were getting what you needed from me. If there is something else that I should be doing for you that I'm not...please let me know!!! I'm still new to this business, so any tips that could come my way would be greatly appreciated!

My Story

I have seen a lot of people posting "their story" lately, so I decided that I should do the same thing. I am usually not that direct with my personal life, but this is more of a "fitness" version of my story...

I had my son in November 2006...a 9 pound 4 oz baby boy. While I was pregnant I left my son's father due to some physical and emotional abuse. I moved back in with my parents...from Minnesota to Wisconsin in June of 2006. I had left a fairly good job on bad terms, and was pretty much moving somewhere where there were no jobs and I had no friends anymore. I moved in with my parents at the age of 27, and tried to figure out what to do. While I was waiting to give birth I was very depressed because I could not find a job at all. I would eat to sooth my pain, so I gained about 50 pounds when I was pregnant. I did eventually end up finding a job at the local Animal Hospital as a receptionist, but I knew that I had to do something after having my son.

In January 2007, I went back to school at UW-Whitewater for Social Work. I was still very stressed out by being a single mother, working, and then adding school to the mix. My weight was out of control, and I was over 200 pounds. I was so busy with school, that I still didn't have the time to do anything about my weight loss, and I think I even gained more weight. The only time I ever weighed in was when I went to the doctor, and I was always so embarrased. I was thought to maybe have post-partum depression because of my lack of career, boyfriend, friends, and my weight. I went on some anti-depressants, started going to a support group for battered women, and started seeing a counselor. I worked a good year on my schooling, being a good mother, and myself. I also started a new job in July 2007 at Starbucks. I was finally paying for my own insurance, starting to make friends, and doing well as a new mother with a lot of help from my family.

For my 28th Birthday in February of 2008, I decided to start Weight Watchers. I went to my first meeting the day after my birthday, February 10th 2008. I weighed in at a whooping 218 pounds (size 16), and vowed to get healthy! I set a goal weight of 150 pounds, and started to take Zumba exercise classes three days a week. I did feel guilty taking the time for me, but I realized it was better for my son in the long-run to have a healthy mom that lives a long life. In one year on Weight Watchers, I got down to 172 pounds (size 8). I was so happy!!! I had even gotten my depression under control, and went off the anti-depressants.

In the summer of 2009 I started graduate school, and was doing a full-time internship at the same time. This is when my exercising and eating go put on the sidelines because I was so very busy. I knew that I was gaining some of the weight back because I had to go back to the store and buy size 10 and 12 pants again... :(

In October 2009 I decided to start with Team Beachbody, and purchased Slim in 6. I knew right away that I didn't like it, so I became a Beachbody workout addict. I purchased Turbo Jam, ChaLEAN Extreme, Hip Hop Abs, Yoga Booty Ballet, 10 Minute Trainer, and Power 90. I started Turbo Jam right away and loved it...getting back into my size 8's!!! I was slightly afraid of the scale because my doctor kept warning me about yo-yoing my weight loss and gain so much. She talked about Diabetes and heart disease, so I was scared!!! I was happy to be back in a size 8, so I layed off on the working out again around Christmas...grad school was starting to get stressful again. Again...I ballooned up to a size 12!!!

I started using Power 90 and 10 Minute Trainer sparingly in February 2010 and got back down to a size 10. I wasn't following the meal plan, so I wasn't able to get back into my size 8's...plus I wasn't following Tony's plan 100%. I kept saying in my mind..."After I'm done with school I am going to pick one workout program and stick to it!"

I finished my MSW program and my internship at the beginning of June 2010, and I decided to start coaching again. I purchased the Diamond Pack, and was very happy to have P90X from the package. I started P90X the week after I ended my internship. It was hard, but I knew it was working...I was back in my size 8's!!! :)

Near the end of June I heard about the new TurboFire, and I was so excited! I ordered it, and once I had it I decided I was going to do it full out! I weighed myself...weighed in at 179 pounds...measured myself, and took "before" photos. I started TurboFire, and absolutly loved it!!! I did about five week of that program on it's own, and then I added ChaLEAN Extreme. I developed my own hybrid and am loving it. I am now down to 169.6 pounds, and feeling wonderful. My doctor saw me two weeks ago for a check-up, and she was asking me about Beachbody because of my fantastic results!

**************************************************
I hope my story has inspired you! If you want to hear more about coaching or just join my team as a Club Member, message me! I do work full-time at my job, and part-time on my fortune...and you can too! My income has tripled in just two months, and I would love to help you!!! :)

Blogging and Logging...found difficult

Hey all my fitness peeps!!! I must say that I'm finding logging my food to be difficult these past few days. I have been doing so many things with my son that there have been a few nights that my eating has "gone out the window," so to speak. Tonight for example...I went to Venetian Festival with my son and my mother. I find it very difficult to go to a town festival and eat clean. I tried really hard...I had corn on the cobb and teriaki beef, but then the ice cream and deep fried cookie dough caught my attention. I really wanted those things, so I had them...splitting the deep fried cookie dough between two people of course. Next weekend will be difficult for me as well. I have my MSW graduation next Sunday with activities planned for three days in a row. I am again worried about logging my food on those days. I want to grill out with my family and friends at my graduation party, have drinks when I go out with my classmates, and have a nice dinner with my family after the graduation ceremony. How do I do those things when I am trying to stick to 2200 calories a day. I think that I am going to let myself do these things, but make sure I work out each morning. I was to still enjoy these accomplishments, but not worry so much about what I'm eating for these few days. I will be back on track on August 30th full-time...I promise!!! The rest of the week and the beginning of next week I am going to behave myself...workout every day and log my food!!!

Until tomorrow...

blogging...or lack there of

Okay...I know I have been MIA from facebook for a little over a day, and haven't blogged since Tuesday. I didn't even realize how little I had been on Facebook until one of my loyal FB friends mentioned that I hadn't been on Facebook much. I am starting to realize that I really do help inspire the people I've met on Facebook, as well as some of my long-time friends, and I feel that I have disappointed all of you. I have been having a lot going on in my personal life lately. I realize that I never talk about my personal life on here, but it's been slightly a mess these past few days. I'm not going to bore everyone with the details, especially since I try to keep my personal life private from my work. Let's just say things are now moving in a positive direction, so I am back to motivate and inspire all of my fitness peeps out there.

Better news...I became an Emerald Beachbody Coach this week. I am very excited because it shows that the Game Plan really works, and I am working it!!! Seriously...if anyone has been thinking of working in the fitness industry or even just doing a little bit of coaching for Beachbody, I can help you out!!! I know how to work this business, and I am more than happy to share my wisdom with my wonderful FB friends. I doubled my paycheck through Beachbody in just two weeks. This is real, and I can help you earn your fortune just by working a few hours a day. Team Beachbody is not a get-rich-fast scheme...it is a legitimate independent business that will build over time.

Well, I've gotten my thoughts off my chest, so now it's time to burn some glob and go!!! I will back with a blog tonight on my eating for the day!!! :)

Until later...

Hey fitness peeps!!! This is my third week of counting calories, and my second week of the TurboFire-ChaLEAN Extreme hybrid. I've been working on it though, and this week is starting off great!!!

I am back to working mostly nights this week as my job, with no clue what my schedule has in store for me next week. Everything is going great! I am meeting a lot of really awesome people, and really enjoying working this part-time "job." I don't even think of it as work, especially since talking to people and exercising is part of it. Who wouldn't like that!!! I am realizing that I am having a lot more fun connecting with, motivating, and inspiring people...and less emphasis on the money aspect of Team Beachbody. Should all Independent Beachbody Coaches be "in it" to help people...with the "paycheck" taking a backseat in importance? That's how I've decided to work my business because it has been so fulfilling!!! ;)

Anyways, today was a difficult day for me. I had a huge migraine all day, had the off of work, and didn't honestly make any plans. I don't know if it's the "not making plans" that did it or the migraine, but I really didn't do a whole lot today except for network with my fitness peeps online. It was great to catch up with everyone, but my headache and internet usage today kept me pretty immobile...therefore, my calories burned kinda sucked! I only burned 1865 calories today...much less than the past two day that were in the mid to upper-2000s. I am going to blame my migraine and start tomorrow as a new day!
